A new ERP & BI Implementation: organizing a mine of information

Magotteaux prides itself on its technical innovations and their ability to hand the right tools to their clients so they can optimize their business. No wonder they asked SQLI to do the same for them, as they found their old ERP system wasn’t up to par anymore.

A new RP & BI Implementation: organizing a mine of information

To provide some context: Magotteaux is the world leader in in process optimization solutions for abrasive and impact applications in mining, cement, aggregates, quarries and power plants. In short, they provide efficient and differentiated solutions against wear to their clients and industries where material size reduction is a key process.

The challenge

To replace the dated Baan ERP information system that had become obsolete over the years, a migration to a new solution was required. A first objective was improving Magotteaux daily operations thanks to a consistent template, based on efficient and integrated working procedures. A second target was to ease the consolidation exercise, improve data quality and accuracy thanks to consistent underlying master data and processes.

The solution?

Heigh-ho, off to work SQLI goes: our customized solution

SQLI made a thorough analysis of the Magotteaux system requirements, taking into account the fact that the proposed solution needed to function well within their ecosystem, and was able to be used by all stakeholders. We prepared our choice of solutions within the SAP framework, a preparation of the program to be used, a roadmap to implement the solution, and lastly some roll-out templates. This way we could structure and organize everything in a transparent manner towards our client.

We then started to design and build the system from the ground up, implementing modules for the following business units:

  • Finance & Controlling
  • Logistics
  • Purchasing
  • Sales
  • Production

The management of the different interfaces was developed to be attuned to the internal ecosystem’s other applications. The whole project was steadily rolled out, with gradual rollouts up to 2022, so nothing is left to chance and small adjustments can be made along the way.

The final result

As you can see, we were not milling around. In the end SQLI managed to standardize all of the business processes for all group plants and make them uniform as well. The newly integrated ERP/SAP solution replaces the worn-out Baan system, and provides an upgradeable solution, meeting the market’s technological standards.
