1. Platform improvements

Adobe Commerce 2.4.6 comes with many overall improvements to the platform such as updates to the storefront, content management system and product search. These include: 

  • Support for PHP 8.2. The PHP 8.1 version remains fully supported, while support for PHP 7.4 will be discontinued. 
  • Support for Composer 2.2.x; Redis 7.0.x and OpenSearch 2.x – which now becomes the default search option for Adobe Commerce. 
  • Compatibility with ElasticSearch 8.x and MariaDB 10.6. 

2. Performance enhancements 

Faster load times and better user experience when businesses are dealing with large numbers of orders are among the performance improvements with the latest update, that include: 

  • Improved order processing performance. Merchants with a high volume of simultaneous orders - over 1,000 a minute – can now balance the load. 

  • Improved performance of operations involving more than 100 customer segments.  

  • Ability to limit the number of products displayed improving product grid performance.

3. Security improvements 

The update includes a number of security fixes and improvements that will provide extra protection for businesses from vulnerabilities, including: 

  • Email confirmation when an admin user changes their email.  

  • Fixing problems with reCAPTCHA validation during payment processing. 

  • Gaps in Admin action logs have been addressed with more specific auditing of actions within grid views, mass actions and exports. 

Other upgrades and replacements

 

Other improvements include: 

  • The DHL schema has migrated from v6.2 to v10.0. 

  • Easier integration with third-party applications through improvements to the GraphQL APIs. 

  • Outdated JavaScript libraries have been updated to their latest versions and outdated dependencies removed. 

  • The storefront has descriptive names on buttons for better accessibility. 

  • New fraud protection and ACH webhooks are added. The PayPal vault can now send and receive messages. 

  • An improved admin experience with several new features. 

  • The release is now compatible with Page Builder v.1.7.3 and PWA Studio v.13.0.x.
