SQLI modernises RTE’s éCO2mix application

[Paris, 15/12/25] RTE, operator of the public electricity transmission network, has entrusted SQLI with the graphic and technological overhaul of its mobile application éCO2mix, with the aim of optimising the user experience.

A benchmark application for energy data

Developed in 2011 by SQLI, the éCO2mix application enables both the general public and experts to track the real-time operation of the French electricity system by providing data such as production, consumption and cross-border commercial exchanges. As RTE’s true digital showcase, it helps explain how the electricity system works, raises awareness of energy transition challenges, and allows everyone to follow, view and understand electricity system data in France.

In 2023, RTE entrusted SQLI with the management of the application’s back end, which also powers RTE’s institutional website.

A technological and graphic modernisation project

Faced with the obsolescence of its mobile application, RTE launched a modernisation initiative to rethink both the technical architecture and the interface design. The objective was to optimise the user experience while maintaining high performance.

Following a tender process, the company chose to rely on a partner capable of combining mobile development, back-end expertise and coordination of a multi-stakeholder project.

A multi-expertise synergy for a seamless user experience

Throughout the project, SQLI and RTE worked hand in hand, with an organisational structure designed to fully integrate the client-side teams into the project’s daily workflow. This collaborative approach resulted in active participation in agile ceremonies, fostering smooth communication, ongoing transparency and effective co-construction.

As part of this work, SQLI developed, in collaboration with RTE’s teams, a new mobile application based on React Native. This cross-platform technology ensures smooth and consistent navigation across all devices. The teams reimagined the user experience by integrating digital accessibility standards to guarantee an inclusive and high-performing interface. SQLI strengthened the application’s quality by providing expertise in mobile design best practices and by proposing tailored solutions throughout the project.

At the same time, SQLI recommended a deep modernisation of the application’s internal workings by migrating towards a Java microservices architecture based on a hexagonal model. This evolution brings greater flexibility and facilitates future developments.

Rapid adoption and highly positive feedback

The new, more modern and higher-performance version of éCO2mix quickly won over its users: its number of daily users has doubled and store reviews are overwhelmingly positive.
