Since February 2010, SQLI has engaged in a large educational program for young people (from 18 to 26), out of the educational system, and coming from Seine Saint Denis working class area. This innovative program offers to 100 young people a complete supporting program, from graduating training to the first job completion, with a coaching on how to behave in a company.
The youth employment is one of the government priorities, which has decided to find, through the Pôle Emploi, IT training. An invitation to tender had been organized last summer, to train 320 young people in the Capital Region, to obtain a network maintenance technician diploma. Through its training entity, SQLI has been chosen to lead this ambitious project and has trained around 120 young people living in Seine Saint Denis working class area.
« This program perfectly represents the SQLI culture, which is based on people potential for its recruitment, without preconceived idea. For ethic reasons, it’s important to give a chance to young people, who left educational system very young for some of them. Of course, we don’t plan to obtain a 100% success graduation, but we have noticed a real evolution, in their vision of work and company environment. It requires a permanent attention, to listen to them, to be strict sometimes but the results are rewarding and they are very attaching people. » said Justine Never, Aston School Plaine – Stade de France manager, SQLI Group.
Graduation training, a personal coaching and claims…
After a motivation interview, around 60 young people have been selected to take part in this program, which is composed by 2 main degree courses allowing to get a diploma certified by the RNCP* :
- Technician for IT and network maintenance (8 months training for a level 4 diploma, equivalent to the high school IT diploma ) ;
- Higher Technician for IT and network maintenance (10 months training, for a level 3 diploma, equivalent to an IT Advanced Vocational Training Certificate)
In parallel of technical school training, lead by experimented teachers, students have a personal coaching :
- Introduction, written/spoken language, company culture, IT technical English…
- Training period research workshop (coaching for phoning, promotion leaflet…) students have to find a 2 months company training period, in the framework of a degree course, with a writing report and an oral examination.
- Job research workshop (writing a CV, cover letter, job research practical, mailing…)
SQLI Group also offered lessons material to students, and a financial credit in a large IT shop dealer; this self-governing management for a budget exceeds the technical skills: team working for the selection of specific materials, planning, management, etc.
“For me, this training is a real opportunity. It allows me to gain trust and be more responsible. We learn a job and also get prepared to find a company on our own. The best for us is implemented to start working,” says Mensan Salokoffi.
« This training proves that we can work within a team, helping together when it’s possible and begin to be more responsible in a company. We were integrated in SQLI business premises and the company helps us to find a training period to prove our knowledge! This training period is important, it’s a key period in my professional career” adds Morgan Kervoelen.
« We have learned a lot about ourselves during this training (autonomy, relationship…). We have learnt to work in group, which is not so easy. So, we have improved our general knowledge. I’m waiting for the training period, It will allow me to increase my skills and to turn my passion into a job », concludes Dalibor Jevremovic.
Today, all of the students have found an internship; the graduation ceremony of the 4 first promotions will be organized during the last term of 2010.
As a conclusion, students with an strong potential also could complete their training with a professional contract : ex Microsoft alternately degree course during 12 months (3 weeks in a company and 1 week at SQLI training center, approved by Prometric) to obtain the Microsoft System and Network administrator degree. About sixty students are studying this degree course.
Today, SQLI is approved by the Pôle Emploi and hopes to implement this activity in the whole French territory.
