Smile integrates SQLI Méditerranée team to bolster Southern France position
Staff at SQLI Méditerranée today joined Smile, French market leader for Open Source solutions. The move, which is part of the SQLI Group 2010-2014 Strategic Plan, also allows Smile to beef up its Montpellier Service Centre, set up a new unit in Aix-en-Provence, and accelerate its commercial development.
SQLI Group is actively pursuing its strategic plan for 2010-2014 designed to accelerate the development of its very high value-added business activities at the same time as it bolsters operational efficiency.
As part of this, and in view of the small size of its Mediterranean branch (20 staff split between Montpellier and Aix), which ruled it out of full inclusion in the new corporate plan, SQLI explored a range of solutions designed to meet dual targets, namely to optimise its organisation in line with its strategic plan, and also to safeguard the interests of its staff while offering them new career prospects.
The exploratory study led to the transfer of SQLI Méditerranée to Smile, France’s leading Open Source solutions integrator.
With this deal, Smile can bolster its branch in Montpellier and now has a service centre with a staff of 60 to meets the growing development and maintenance needs of its branches.
The transaction will also allow it to benefit from an additional unit in Aix-en-Provence, whose opening was part of its 2011 development plan. Smile now intends to accelerate its commercial development on the local market.
Marc Palazon, Chairman of the Smile Management Board said: “Smile is a high-growth company. We intend to pursue our rapid expansion, and the acquisition of SQLI Méditerranée is perfectly lined up with our strategy of territorial deployment and enhanced skillsets. In addition, SQLI and Smile share the same set of values and have a very similar activity, even if Smile does devote itself more specifically to Open Source solutions. No doubt the staff from SQLI, whom we are delighted to welcome here today, will find an environment at Smile that is conducive to fulfilment.”
Julien Mériaudeau, SQLI Group Chief Executive Officer, added: “As part of our transformation process, we attach especial importance to deploying solutions that meet the interests both of the Group and its personnel. Among the various scenarios that we have been studying for several months past, we opted for the one that made most sense and we are happy today that our staff are now moving to Smile, whose corporate culture is similar to our own and whose growth prospects are promising.”
